How To Set Up a Pinterest For Business Account

There are 3 ways of setting up Pinterest for business.

  • Add business profile to your personal account
  • Convert personal account to a business account
  • create a new Pinterest for business account.

How do you do it?

Let’s start from scratch.

1. Go to Pinterest.com/business/create

If you have a personal account log out first. Enter your email and new password and click Create Account.

2. Choose language, location and add your business name

Choose the description that suits your business and add a link to your website.

3. Connect to your Instagram, Etsy and Youtube Accounts

These will help in tracking analytics from the three sites.

4. Choose whether you will run ads on Pinterest

You can leave your contact for a Pinterest rep to reach out to you.

5.Edit your profile

Go to the business hub dashboard. Click on the pencil icon beside your name.

You can change your profile name since its the same as the one on the email you used.

Add your brand profile photo of dimension 165 x 165 pixels.

Fill in the about section with few relevant keywords.

Click Done to save

6. Claim your website

If you have a website write it down on the box below and claim it.

This allows you to track your website analytics.

Any pin linked back to the claimed account has your profile photo and a follow button. It improves visibility and gains more followers.

7.Create a Pinterest Board

On your profile. Click on the plus sign and scroll over to Create a Board.

Add a board title that is descriptive. for example “Things to wear” “Home management Tips” Simple recipes”

Add a description to the board that includes keywords. Example “Find simple recipes for dinner that you can try out”

The description part can have at most 500 words. Its recommended that you describe your message within the first 25 words. Use relevant Keywords.

You can also use hashtags like #simplerecipes they improve your SEO. But don’t stuff them on your description.

Choose a category for your board. For example ” Recipes with chicken”.This also helps with SEO.

Upload a fitting cover photo. Use 1200 X 1200 Pixels to design your cover photo. You can find one at befunky online photo editor

Pro tip: Start with 10 boards.two have your products. The other eight should have interesting things that your customer love.

8. Creating your first pin

Add a title and description including relevant keywords and hashtags.

Include a destination link to your store, Facebook page or Website. Test if it works.

The link should be relevant to the content of the pin.

Upload a high-quality image. For greatest result have the following specification

  • Image between 600  to 700 Pixels and above
  • Aspect ratio 2:3
  • Recommended format JPEG, PNG, and GIF

You can crop, trip or add logo and text from the Pin editor,

Note: When previewing your image they are automatically cropped vertically. Make sure that no important details get cut.

Pro tip: Focus on the most important part of the image. Avoid faces especially on Fashion, clothes unless it’s necessary.

Use high-quality short explainer videos. Showing how the product works.

Once done Hit Publish and choose the board to add to.

9. Choosing a cover photo for your profile

Click on the pencil icon above the image. Pinterest will automatically give ideas from your pins or your boards. Pick any of these as your board cover.
